The 31th General Assembly of the IAU (IAUGA2022) will be held on Aug. 2-11, 2022, in a hybrid (in-person + virtual) format. The official web page for registration and abstract submission will be open on Jan. 1, 2022.

1. Registration

You have two options for registration: in-person and virtual.

In-person registration is required for in-room and/or remote oral contributions.

2. Abstract Submission

o In-person participants: Up to 4 abstracts for oral and/or e-poster/e-talk gallery

o Virtual participants: Up to 4 abstracts for e-poster/e-talk gallery

3. Staff Recruitment

The NOC is advertising for the operating staff positions of the GA, who will be paid based on daily work of 10 hours. Those who intend to apply for the staff are referred to the bulletin board at the KAS homepage. The deadline is on Jan. 15, 2022.

4. KAS grant

The Korean Astronomical Society (KAS) will offer the KAS Grant to the participants (students, early-career astronomers, and retired IAU members) who may not have travel grants. By Feb. 10, 2022, applicants must register for IAUGA2022 and fill out the KAS grant application form. For in-person recipients, assistance services of 10-20 hours will be requested by the NOC and the following support will be provided.

o Undergraduates in Astronomy or related fields (Physics/Math) and postgraduates in Astronomy

  - Complimentary registration for both in-person and virtual attendees

  - Applicants (in-person) without travel grants may apply for accommodation support.

o Early-career astronomers (postdocs)

  - Complimentary registration for both in-person and virtual attendees

  - Applicants (in-person) without travel grants may apply for accommodation support.

o Retired IAU members

 - Complimentary registration for both in-person and virtual attendees

5. Volunteer Recruitment

For the students/postdocs, who have completed the registration for GA2022 without the application for the KAS grant, are solicited to sign up for volunteer services at the bulletin board of the KAS homepage. For recipients, assistance services of 5-20 hours will be requested by the NOC. The deadline is on Mar. 31, 2022.

As IAUGA was deferred for one year and will be held in a hybrid format, the cost of hosting IAUGA2022 has increased significantly. KAS members are kindly asked to encourage as many students as possible to participate in this event and try to support their necessary expenses from your research grants. Although the official early-bird registration closes on February 28th, completing the registration by early February will greatly help the NOC.
